Date: April 18-19, 1970
Attendance: Approximately 200

This was the second conference held at Riverside Community College. By now it was being referred to as the Riverside Telescope Meeting or the Telescope Makers Conference. Attendance was gradually starting to grow as word of this "West Coast" conference got around, especially due to the nice article which appeared in Sky & Telescope the year before.

Fifty telescopes were displayed and 15 entered into the competition. At that time, awards were given for both optical and mechanical excellence. First and Second Place were still awarded. Bob Cox of Sky & Telescope later convinced Cliff Holmes to make them all of equal value.

This was also the first year that telescope manufacturers had displays at Riverside, an important difference between it and the only other major conference that existed at the time, Stellafane.
