Date: May 28-30, 1999
Attendance: 1,647This year had a full Moon so
"The Moon" was chosen as the theme. Emphasis was placed on high-resolution lunar
and planetary observing. On Friday night we had our now traditional Show and Tell and
short subject sessions.
The use of panel discussion groups was expanded with 10
panels convening this year. These panels contained some of the top amateur astronomers in
their respective fields.
The Keynote Speaker was Harrison Schmitt, one of the last
men to walk on the Moon and the only scientist to go to the Moon.
The weather was, as usual, generally favorable except for a
Saturday night wind storm that knocked down a few canopies and tents.
